Cats may be a mostly nocturnal, mostly carnivorous species, but in many ways, they are just like us. They love their families, care for their loved ones, and hope to provide the best life for their children. Sometimes, all you need is the proper bedroom setup to see the similarities between the two species. In this Instagram video, a cat family looks right at home in a miniature-sized home.

They cuddle up under big fuzzy blankets, groom each other, and even kick back and watch TV. After watching the video a couple of times, you may wonder: who created this cat castle, complete with beds, decorations, and even picture frames featuring the cat family? Furthermore, why are these cats so comfortable living like human beings?

Snuggling in Bed

A grey cat and a white cat can be seen in a series of loving embraces.

The video opens with a cat couple smooching in a perfectly cat-sized bed. Next to them, several kittens arranged like furry sausage rolls purr as they sleep soundly. From there, the video quickly cuts between different bedroom and living scenes. The same cat couple, a grey cat and a white cat, are seen lounging in bed, unwinding among the blankets, and loving each other with tenderness and well-placed kisses. In every shot of the video, they are kissing, even making out to the point that one wonders what comes next.

Time and Effort

The detail and decoration put into these shots must have taken the video’s creators hours.

It takes a couple of play-throughs to get a good sense of these cats’ furnishings. The details are impressive: each room is like a snapshot out of a cat architectural digest magazine. There are well-designed bedroom sets with matching colors and perfectly placed objects, each a world unto its own.

It’s fun to play into the fantasy, but there’s no way the cats put these rooms together. They are the work of human hands and budgets. There is a closet full of the right-sized clothes. There are miniature pairs of his and her Crocs, lamps on nightstands, fake plants, and throw pillows. There are even picture frames displaying photos of the cats themselves. It’s hard to say exactly what kind of cats these are. One looks like a British Shorthair, and the other is potentially a Scottish Fold. The kittens visible in some shots resemble the adult cats and may be their actual offspring, although they have distinctive grey stripes.

Unclear Origins

Despite being a viral video, the origins of this cat home remain unclear.

All the while, no matter the shot, the two cats are kissing or cuddling. This kind of passion is enviable, but one wonders how this whole production was put together. At the very least, someone—or a team—put a great deal of thought into designing these rooms. The crafting required for each bedroom set alone must have taken several hours. Even with all the views, however, its origins remain mysterious. There’s little information to go on from this Instagram video alone. The page that posted it shares many cat videos. Furthermore, internet searches do not provide any information about the origins of this remarkable video. That said, other cat house builders on the Internet produce just as stunning and adorable creations.

Xing’s World

Another Internet personality named Xing takes cat building construction up a notch.

The YouTuber Xing’s World has racked up an impressive following due to his determination to build his cats the most ostentatious and technically impressive cat structures the world has ever seen.

If you think the details in the Instagram video are impressive, Xing’s World on YouTube will truly amaze you. He’s built almost an entire city’s worth of buildings and enrichments for his cats. One of his more recent videos features a miniature fast-food restaurant for cats, called MeowDonald’s, complete with a dining area, food ordering counter, and a miniature backlit menu.

Cat City

Xing has built a warehouse full of cat buildings including fast food restaurants.

Where this Instagram video lacks any information about its creators and the effort undertaken to bring a loving and suburban cat home, Xing makes up for it. His channel features showcase videos of the cat-friendly buildings. There’s even one video where Xing built an entire fast food restaurant for his cats, complete with a dining area, a food ordering counter, and a miniature backlit menu.

After watching enough of Xing’s videos, you realize he has an entire warehouse at his disposal, which he fills with an increasingly complex cat city. Luckily, he also has how-to videos that illustrate the meticulous and sweaty process it takes to bring just one cat building to life. Perhaps the Instagram video with mysterious origins actually features several rooms from Xing’s world for cats. At the very least, it certainly seems possible.
